These apps have been removed from the play store and whoever users had these apps on their phone, they are getting this message when they open the app.
Banned app display message- “Dear users, we are in the process of complying with the Government of India’s directive to block 59 apps. ” Share it deeply committed to protecting the privacy and security of our users. The ministry of technology said, the applications are engaged in activities which are shared by Indian users, that is “sovereignty and integrity of India, defense of India, the security of the state and public order. The ban has been imposed on 29th Jun, under section 69A of information technology act read with relevant provisions of the information technology (Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking of Access of Information by Public) Rules 2009)
Before taking this step, the government has been considered all aspects, as data going to on outside country server, and so there were security and privacy issues for the data. And information technology ministry had received some complaints from various resources regarding the misuse of mobile apps for stealing surreptitiously transmitting users. This is a very deep concern of the data security and safeguarding the privacy of 130 Crore Indians and these concerns also pose a threat to sovereignty and security of our country.
The ban apps in India might be impactful for brand ambassador, influencers & content creators as well, top sources said, the participation in Chinese app or other commercial ads may be risky for the brand ambassador, influencers & content creators.
Top Chinese app Usage statistics-
India is a major market where Chinese technology has grown over the years, from large gadgets to small, approx 40% of gadgets are Chinese in India. and these 59 banned apps were the most useable apps in India, especially the Tik Tok had 16.4 million new installs in June. And over 200 million active users in India and 500 million users worldwide. Where UC Browser was the second large mobile browser in India, approx 130 million users in India. Document Scanning app CamScanner had 100 million users in India and 4 million new installs in June.
